Terms of Service

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of the MatchPickle mobile application (the “App”) and related services operated by MatchPickle (“MatchPickle,” “we,” “us”). By creating an account or using the App, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the App.

1. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to create an account. We verify age at signup using a date-of-birth gate.
You must provide accurate registration information and keep it current.
One person, one account. You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account.

2. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

Harass, threaten, dox, or impersonate any other user or person.
Post hateful, sexually explicit, or otherwise objectionable content. We have a zero- tolerance policy for content that targets a person or group based on protected characteristics.
Use the App for commercial solicitation, spam, or to recruit users to off-platform services.
Attempt to access another user’s account, scrape the platform, reverse engineer the App, or interfere with its operation.
No-show or repeatedly cancel on games you have committed to. Repeated unreliability will degrade your reliability score and may result in account suspension.
Misrepresent your skill level in a way that creates an unsafe match for other players.
Violate any applicable law or third-party right while using the App.

3. Content moderation

Every user-visible surface in the App (profiles, game posts, chat messages) carries a “Report” affordance. Reports go to our trust & safety queue and are reviewed by a human moderator within 24 hours. We may, at our discretion:

Remove content that violates these Terms.
Issue warnings, mute a user from chat, or temporarily restrict hosting privileges.
Suspend or terminate accounts for serious or repeated violations.
Cooperate with law enforcement when required by valid legal process.

You can also block any user directly. Blocking removes them from your discovery surfaces and prevents them from seeing your games.

4. User-generated content

You retain ownership of content you submit (profile photo, profile text, chat messages, court submissions). By submitting content, you grant MatchPickle a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, display, and distribute that content within the App as needed to operate the service. This license ends when you delete your content or your account, except for backups that may persist for up to 7 days before they roll off.

5. Account termination

By you: Settings → Delete account triggers a server-side deletion of your profile, photo, push token, and game roster entries. The action is confirmation-gated. Once executed, your handle becomes available to other users.
By us: We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms, if your account is dormant for an extended period, or if continuing to provide service to you would expose us to legal risk. Where feasible we will give you advance notice and a chance to appeal.
Termination does not relieve either party of obligations that, by their nature, should survive — including the limitations of liability, indemnification, and dispute resolution provisions below.

6. Health and safety

Pickleball is a physical activity. You are solely responsible for your own physical condition, your equipment, and the suitability of any court for your level of play. MatchPickle is a coordination tool; we do not vet courts, weather conditions, or other players, and we do not provide insurance. Play within your limits and consult a physician before beginning a new exercise routine.

7. Disclaimers

THE APP IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. We do not warrant that the App will be uninterrupted, secure, or free of errors.

8. Limitation of liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, MATCHPICKLE WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS OR REVENUES, ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE APP. OUR AGGREGATE LIABILITY UNDER THESE TERMS WILL NOT EXCEED ONE HUNDRED U.S. DOLLARS (USD $100).

9. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold MatchPickle harmless from any claims, damages, or liabilities arising out of your violation of these Terms, your violation of any law or third-party right, or your use of the App.

10. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Utah, without regard to conflict-of- laws principles. Any dispute that cannot be resolved through good-faith communication will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Salt Lake County, Utah, and you consent to the exclusive jurisdiction of those courts.

11. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be announced in-app before they take effect. The “Effective date” at the top of this page is always current. Continued use of the App after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the new Terms.
